Abstract: Informal sector arises in almost all economic sectors, for example, in the manufacturing sector there are home industries or trade sector, grocery shop, a traveling salesman, and the street vendors (PKL). This study aims to determine the motivation of women to work in the informal sector, to investigate the level of income from the business and to investigate the contribution of women income to family or household income. Samples were taken by using stratified random sampling technique. The number of respondents selected as many as 38 people (30%) of 129 worker women in the informal sector in Tial Village. The results showed that 20respondentsstatedthatthey were motivated to work with the aim to meet the educational needs of their children. A total of14 respondents stated that they were motivated mostly to meet family needs. As many as 4 respondents stated that they were motivated because the low level of their husband’s income. Of the two business managed by women in Tial Village, the greater income was from bread business group which is above Rp. 2.000.000 per month. And the second one was from fish business group which is Rp. 3.550.000 per month. The average contribution of women workers in the informal sector in the household was 72.31 percent which is much larger than the contribution of their husband in the household which is only 27.69 percent.
