| Abstract: | In the framework of the implementation of community-based resource management for sustainable fisheries in Maluku, one important factor to note is the performance of management personnel, as well as the participation of local communities in the management and utilization of fisheries resources in its possession. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of government officials is a community-based fishery resource that governments and kewang staff in the sub-District of South Leitimur Ambon. The study area was some villages in south of Ambon Leitimur sub-district namely Hutumuri, Rutong, Leahari, Hukurila, and Naku. The method used in this research was to combine the methods of survey research methods and PRA (Participatory Rural Appraisal). Sampling technique used was stratified sampling. Data types consisted of primary and secondary. Data were analyzed by using descriptive qualitatively. The results showed that the performance of government officials as a community-based fishery resource namely government staff and kewang was categorized as high. The recommendation, the highly good performance by the management of community-based fisheries needed to be maintained and improved. Besides, the management of community-based fisheries in sub-District South Leitimur needs special attention from the local government so that it can compile Maluku regulation policies that support local food security area. |
