| Abstract: | In the 1980s local food consumption level was higher than that of rice consumption, but in the 1990s, rice consumption level was higher than that of local food. The objectives of this study were to determine the real condition of the food consumption patterns and factors that cause changes in the pattern of consumption that is from local food to rice. Research method used survey and sample of 120 households were selected randomly of 1,191 of total population. Data was processed and analyzed with descriptive statistics and qualitative analysis. The study results showed that the amount of rice consumption has reached 91.57 kg / capita / year with total expenditure of Rp 742 792, while the consumption of local food consumption was only about 10.67 kg / capita / year with total expenditure value of Rp 80 062. Factors causing changes in food consumption patterns of local rice to rice were rice was easily to obtain and to process, more delicious, filling, reasonably priced, the symbol of social status and are regarded as a staple food. This study concluded that consumption patterns have changed where the number and value of rice consumption was almost 10 times greater than that of amount of local food consumption. |
