Abstract:	Germplasm of Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata, L.Walp.) genetic resource needs to be secured and examined in order to develop its potential to support food diversification. As the first step, characterization activity was done to get information about the genetic varieties of cowpea germplasm in Lakor Island and also to obtain seeds for collection material. Results of the characterization and descriptive analysis of the cowpea indicated that there were 10 varieties of local Cowpea (KTL-1, KTL-2, KTL-3, KTL-4, KTL-5, KTL-6, KTL-7, KTL-8, KTL-9 dan KTL-10) in Lakor Island with various phenotypes, especially in terms of color.
