Abstract: Fisheries sector is an important contributor to the economic development and the welfare of the people of Ambon. However, this sector has not been properly touched with improvements in business management, production trends and the improvement of the fisher’s prosperity. This study aims to identify the status of investment, financing and the revenue of the fishing bussiness, as well as the feasibility of the fishing industries development in the coastal villages of Ambon City. The research method applying conceptual approaches and benefit cost analysis (BCA). Handline fisheries was identified as a fishing business with lowest investment costs, ranging from Rp 841,000 - Rp 5.25 million. Pole and line, purse seine, tuna fishing industries requires a large operating costs for fishing annually. Purse seine, pole and line, and payang have a high revenue, but the turnover/business cycle is a bit slower. Of the 32 coastal villages in Ambon, a total of 22 villages (68.75%) having a fishing business with benefit cost ratio (BCR) above 2.00. Fisheries with the highest BCR (BCR = 20.24) is the handline fishery in Leahari. Fisheries with the BCR <1.00 (not feasible) only occurs in tuna fishing bussiness (BCR = 0.91) in Kilang and purse seine (BCR = 0.82) in Urimesing.
