Abstract:	Increasing of population needs and economic growth will result in highly utilization of natural resources. Use of natural resources will change the function of its resource. This research aim was to analyze land-cover changes in Ambon City using Landsat satellite imagery in 2001 and 2009. The results showed that there had been a decline in forest land cover for the region, and mangrove forest, while the area of open land, settlement, agricultural and upland shrub rose during the period of eight years. Designation of land should be in accordance with the criteria which it was designed. So that ecological sustainability was maintained.
