Abstract:	This study aimed to measure the effect of economic growth on poverty in the city of Ambon. The using time series 2003-2012 period with secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Ambon and Maluku province, which is then analyzed using SPSS version 18. The results of PR = 9.11 to 0.259 EG + e, Although the independent variables (economic growth) has a negative relationship with the dependent variable (poverty rates), but it is an important element that is designed to alleviate poverty. Correlation coefficient (R) 10.1%, coefficient of determination (R2) of 20.1% for the remaining 79.9% is influenced by other variables outside the model of this study. Where the strategy should oriented on high economic growth rate, but other variables must be taken into account, see the value of R is taken R2, H0 = β = 0 means there is no significant effect between the independent variables (economic growth) to the dependent variable ( poverty rates).
