Abstract: Diabetes Mellitus has now become a global health problem. The incidence and prevalence of the disease is continuously increasing, especially in countries that are developing and industrializing countries that entered the culture. Number of patients with diabetes mellitus in the world was recorded in 1990 reached 80 million, then by the year 2010 the number of people with diabetes mellitus reach 239.3 million people worldwide, and is expected to continue to soar up to touch the figure of300 million per world population in 2025. This type of research that will be done is an epidemiological study analytical observation, using case control study design. Samples were patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in dr M. Haulussy Ambon 2014 that met [nclusion criteria and were taken by using purposive sampling method. The data analysis was conducted by: a) the univariate analysis, b) bivariate and multivariate analysis. Research shows diets containing high-carbohydrate and low in fiber have a huge risk by 5:09 times greater when compared with those who did not consume diets containing high in carbohydrates and low in fiber. P = 0.000, OR= 5.09, LL - UL= 2:12 to 12:20. History of hypertension had a big risk by 3:00 times greater when compared with those with no history of hypertension. P = 0.002, OR= 3.00, LL - UL= 1.51- 5.96 . For patients with type 2 diabetes are advised to have to start a clean lifestyle and healthy and also should be able to avoid the risk factors that can lead to the incidence of diabetes mleitus type 2 including by setting up a good diet by following a diet 3.T, respondents can also set his diet so as not to consume high­ carbohydrate foods low in fiber, respondents must often control blood pressure, avoid smoking and eating habits have to exercise regularly.
