Abstract: In the coastal areas of Ambon there are mangrove forest area of ± 64.3160 ha with a long coastline of mangrove areas by ± 8,951 m, concentrated in the coastal villages: Laha, Tawiri, Poka, Hunut, Waiheru, Nania, Passo, Negeri Lama, Lateri, Latta, Halong, Rutong and Leahari.The existences of mangrove forests provide physical and biological benefits, as well as economic benefits. Given the potential of mangrove resources to support public welfare and productivity of the surrounding environment, this study was conducted to analyze the economic value of mangrove forest ecosystems in coastal areas of Ambon city. Data collected through observation and interviews using a questionnaire. Analysis of the data refers to the concept of the value of natural resources or the environment according Suparmoko (2002) and Ruitenbeek (1991). The result showed that mangrove forests area of 64.3160 ha resulted in a total economic benefit value of Rp 542.691.870/ha/year or by Rp 1.190.954.663/year, consisting of: the value of the direct benefits of Rp 149.695.745/year, the indirect benefits of Rp 997.120.888/year, the benefits of the presence of Rp 34.689.301/year, and benefit optional Rp 9.448.729/year.
