Abstract: The majority of nutmeg farmers in Hila village tend to sell their products to PT. Ollop which is a buyer company as well as a nutmeg exporter in the village, rather than sell their products to town or to the other collectors, although sometimes the farmers unsatisfied with the prices offered by PT.Ollop. This study aimed to find out the patron-client relationship between farmers and PT. Ollopwhich has been executed for one month from June to July 2016. The research method was a descriptive qualitative method. The result of the study showed that the patron-client relationship between farmers and PT. Ollop was commenced with the process of a good social relationship between the both parties such as family relationship/relatives, friends and the sense of brotherhood as one community.The farmers (clients) always sell their products to PT. Ollop based on the request of PT.Ollop. As reward, PT. Ollop (patron) paid back their service to the farmers by a higher nutmeg price compared to the prices offered by other collectors, and gives the support to the farmers such as training programs, as well as the free distribution of nutmeg seeds.The patronclient relationship built was based on the relationships of family/relatives, friendship and neighborhood with the expectation that both parties could get a mutual benefit from the relationship. The problem which is becomes an obstacle for the farmers was the closing of buying by PT.Ollop.
