| Abstract: | Farmer groups must be effective in order to achieve group goals. The effectiveness of farmer groups could not be separated from the farmer group leadership. As a case study, the objectives of this study were: (1) to analyze the leadership of farmer group especially about leadership role; and (2) to analyze the relationship between the leadership role of the farmer group leader and the effectiveness of the farmer group based on the assessment of group members. The location of the study was determined intentionally on the farmer group in Cikarawang Village, Dramaga Subdistrict, Regency of Bogor, West Java because Cikarawang Village is one of the targets of the Partnership Action Program in villages around the campus of Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB). The study showed that all the heads of farmer groups in Cikarawang Village had not yet increased their role as central figures in realizing group goals, especially in terms of facilitating members to make group planning. The leadership role of the farmer group leader that was significantly related to the group effectiveness was to help group members meet the needs so that members feel the satisfaction to be group member. |
