Abstract: One of the fundamental requirements at the fisheries port is clean fresh water. Pelabuhan Perikanan Nusantara (PPN) in Tantui, Ambon is the only fishing port that serve fresh water for the trips of many fishing vessel with capacity of 100-600 GT which operated in Arafura Sea, Banda Sea and Seram Sea. The aims of this research were: (1) to describe the mechanism of fresh water distribution at PPN Ambon and (2) to analyze the primary and secondary needs of fresh water at PPN Ambon. The data used for analysis consist of primary and secondary data. Primary data was collected from observation and interview, while the secondary data was collected from PPN Ambon. The data were classified based on the fleet and size of boat (GT), followed by the analysis using formula according to Pane (2005). The result showed that the distribution mechanism was conducted using a water pump system, where the water was distributed through pipe to reservoir, then distributed to the user, which are fishing vessel, housing units, ice factory, office buildings, and other facilities at PPN. However, based on the utilization rate, actual fresh water at PPN Ambon on 2013 is still bellow required needs, theoretically, where the needs for all unit at PPN Ambon reached only 28.6%.
