Abstract: Palm fiber is a natural fiber. Natural fibers cam be used as fillers or reinforcement in composites. Natural fibers have many advantages compared to other inorganic fibers. The advantage of composite materials when compared to metals is that they have good mechanical properties that are not easily corroded, raw materials that are easily obtained at lower prices, and have lower density compared to material fibers. The method used in this study is the Hands Lay Up method. For a comparison of the volume filler fraction of palm sugar and polyester matrix fibers, namely 10%:90%,20%:80%.30%:70% and 40%:60%. The size of palm fiber fibers is set at 0.35mm. Palm fiber is mixed with polyester by stirring, then pour it into the mold. The results of testing the tensile strength of the highest palm fiber fibers at 40% with an average tensile strength value of 25.29 Kg/cm2.
