Abstract: The aim of this research was to know the characteristics vibration of the internal combustion engine by the increase clearances between ball and outer race of ball bearings. Vibration characteristics is based on monitoring the vibration signals obtained experimentally. The method used to detect clearances is by measuring the vibration characteristics in both time domain and frequency domain that occurs in the radial direction. Comparative analysis of vibration signals between ball and outer race conditioned standard and which has undergone a gradual accretion clearances performed on multiple pads in such a way that can be determined the extent of damage bearings. The experimental results showed that the vibration engine in the operation experience with high acceleration, a result of the transfer of power in combustion chember indicator to the gear box to be used in a system moving out of the engine and the result of the transfer of power, then the components of ball bearings produced by high frequency vibration to engine body so that the engine operates with a high vibration. Components of ball bearings also increased vibration when the clearance between components to be great. The results show that the bearing component increased vibration in the BPFO, BPFI, BSF and FTF. The result of the frequency components of ball bearings calculation is: BPFO = 54.6405 Hz, BPFI = 80.271 Hz, BSF = 36.911 Hz and FTF = 6.711 Hz. The results of this research is the basic for predictive maintenance program.
