Abstract: S35C steel, which is steel with carbon content of 0.30 to 0.35% carbon, including in the category of steel with low carbon content. In raising the value of mechanical steel (hardness), could be solved with malakukan heat treatment process in this case solid carburizing method (pack carburizing), This is done in this study. The results obtained after the research process using a mixture ratio of 60% carbon (wood charcoal nani) and 40% catalyst used in this case Clamshell (CaCO3) from 1 kg of carburizing medium, with a hold time 15 minutes, 30 minutes and 45 minutes. Where increasing the value of hardness to 15 minutes of 6.6 HRC, 30 minutes 14.33 45 minutes 28.62 HRC and HRC. Detention time of 45 minutes has increased hardness value is high enough, this proves that the longer the detention time would increase the value of local media violence and the use of shells as a catalyst in a solid carburizing process.
