Abstract: This research was conducted to find the cause of the vibration at grinding machine bench (bench grinding machine). The cause of the vibrations is obtained from measurements in the laboratory.The method used to detect the cause of these vibrations is to measure the looseness that occurs between elements bearings. Because this machine has no moving parts the translation, so it can be isolated that the vibrations that occur only because of bearing failure.The measurement results showed that the frequency components of ball bearings is: BPFO = 54.6405 Hz, = 80.271 Hz BPFI, BSF = 36.911 Hz and FTF = 6.711 Hz, while the allowances between the outer race and the ball is B1 = 38,375 μm, good condition because it is still in. allowable ranges and B-2 = 60.125 μm outside the permitted ranges. Based on these results, it was concluded that the cause of the vibration at the bearing of the bench grinding machine because clearances between the outer races and balls have exceeded the predetermined limit (B-2 = 60.125 μm> 53 m), so it was decided 2nd bearing must be replaced, while 1st bearing can still be used.
