Abstract: Paddy rice field in Waelo village has very low soil fertility, mainly due to the availability of soil macro nutrients (N, P, and K) which range from very low to low. Therefore, soil management is necessary by the application of fertilizer. This research is done with the aim to determine the soil pH, available K and K uptake by rice, the growth as well as yield of rice (Oryza sativa L) in responses to the treatment of manure and NPK fertilizer. The study used a randomized block design (RBD) in 2 - 5 factorial with 3 replications. The first factor was manure (O) which consists of two levels, i.e without manure O0 and O1 3 tons ha-1 (6 kg plot-1). The second factor was NPK fertilizer (A) which consisted of three levels, namely A0 without NPK fertilizer; A1 25% x the recommended dose (75 kg ha-1); A2 50% - the recommended dose (150 kg ha-1); A3 75% - the recommended dose (225 kg ha-1), and A4 100% - the recommended dose (300 kg ha-1). The results showed that the manure along with NPK fertilizer increased the soil K availability and the K uptake by rice, whereas the manure and NPK fertilizer independently increased the soil pH, vegetative growth (plant height and number of productive tillers/clump) and the yield of rice (number of filled grain per panicle and weight of 1000 seeds). Combination dose of 3 tons ha-1 of manure and 300 kg ha-1NPK improved soil available K at 31.12 ppm and lowered the K uptake of rice plants from 1.43 to 1.33 %.
