Abstract: Knowing German language begins from knowing its segmental and suprasegmental phoneme. In German learning, both phonemes are applied in diverse interpretation by its learners. Using test in knowing their interpretion of segmental and suprasegmental phoneme by listening and speaking the German words which are similar and not similar with Indonesian words results that the intonation in listening the similar words is lower than in listening not similar. It is also in speaking. In contrary, the lengt of vowel in listening the similar words is higher than the listening not similar. That happens in speaking too. Meanwhile, the student's interpretation of vowel and consonant which are not found in Indonesian is low.
