Abstract: Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media (CSOM) is a chronic infection of the middle ear, characterized by perforation of the tympanic membrane more than 2 months and recurrent or persistent ear discharge. CSOM is a major cause of acquired hearing impairment, especially in developing countries. This study was aimed to determine the characteristics of patients with CSOM in dr. M. Haulussy Ambon Hospital period of 2012. This is a descriptive retrospective study conducted on August 12th to September 7th 2013. Data were collected from medical records of patients with CSOM in dr. M. Haulussy Ambon Hospital. Population was 96 medical records and samples were 54 data. Results shows highest proportion in the age group under 5 years old (31,5%), based on gender, highest proportion is male (51,9%), based on education level was found (37,0%) didn’t attend school which comes from age group of less than 6 years, proportion of patients by occupation obtained (85,2%) didn’t have a job which is dominated by students and preschool children. According to major complaint, highest proportion of patients present with otorrhea (81.5%), based on location of tympanic membrane perforation, highest proportion is central perforation (81.5%), and highest type of CSOM is benign type (81,5%). Complications were found intratemporal complication (1,85%).
