| Abstract: | Food is the primary of human needs so that everyone is always trying to meet the food needs by buying or producing their own. Villagers generally identified as the community who seek their own food needs because they have agricultural land.As time goes by, in villages the source of family food also changed because of many reasons, such as agricultural land conversion and the availability of new jobs outside agriculture. This study aims to know the source of family food in Seriholo and Tala villages. Sample size was 69 housewives of 221 housewives that was determined by Slovin formula. Primary data included social and economic characteristics of respondents, variants of family food, and how the housewife getting food. Secondary data includes demographic data and crop production in the District of Amalatu and villages of Seriholo and Tala werecollected from BPS Maluku and district and villages selected offices. Data were analyzed qualitatively with the Spearman correlation. The results showed there were three sources of family food, which is buying, producing their own, and giving to others. Food sources that was chosen by most of housewives were buying although the household owns land. Only 49.28 per cent of households used the land as a source of family food. |
