Abstract:	This research was aimed to understand the effect of moon phases towards the catch of liftnet. The experiment was conducted between October-November 2017 at waters around Leihitu Sub-district, Central Maluku. The method used on this research was experimental fishing with total of 18 fishing trips which were seperated based on the moon phases, which are Period I (dark moon), Period II (inter phase moon), Period III (full moon). The persentage of types of catch was calculated based on the weight proportion (%) of each species. To determine the effects of moon phases towards the catch, data was analyzed using ANOVA. The highest catch of Decapterus sp. during the Period I, Period II, and Period III were 13.97%, 8.35%, and 3.69%. Thus, the catch of liftnet was affected by the moon phases. The differences between each period were highly significant.
