| Abstract: | The intention of this research was to know the socio-economic condition of the vegetables farmer in the area of Kembang Buton Wara located in Batu Merah Village, Ambon. The observation was focused to find resources in the vegetables farmer (internal factor), work participation rates, income, and dependency rate of the farmers toward the vegetables farm. The research method used in this study was a survey method. Research object consisted of 40 households of vegetables farmers, obtained by systematic sampling. The results showed that most of vegetables farmers in Kembang Buton Wara area were less educated, small farms managed are scattered on hilly slope. Land condition, soil type, a simple way of cultivation, lack of irrigation and transportation facilities led to the relatively high absorption of labor in vegetable farming. Family member work participation rate was relatively high and depended on the number of family members over the age of 10 years. Vegetable farming was the main source of income and contributed most to the household income of vegetable farmers in Kembang Buton Wara area, where the level was relatively high dependence of farmers on it. |
