Abstract: This research aimed to determine the efficiency of urea fertilization on the plant N uptake and the improvement of rice yield at Waelo Village in subdistrict Waeapo, Buru district. The model used was Omission plot, where rice paddies was grown on the plots without a certain fertilizer given indicating that the nutrient derived was only from soil. The research was conducted using Randomized Complete Block (RCB) in factorial design with three factors and three replications. Fertilizers as the 1st factor were: control, 0 N (PK fertilizer), 0 K (NP fertilizer), 0 P (NK fertilizer), and NPK fertilizer given to plots with size of 2 m - 2.5 m. Doses of fertilizers applied were Urea (90 kg N ha-1), SP36 (50 kg P2O5 ha-1), and KCl (70 kg K2O ha-1). Two cultivars of rice (memberamo and mekongga) as the 2nd factor were grown on each treatment plot. Mean dry grain yield in nutrient omission plot increased in the order: Control (4.24 Mg ha-1) < PK (4.85 Mg ha-1) < NP (5.48 Mg ha-1) < NK (6.08 Mg ha-1) < NPK fertilizer (6.53 Mg ha-1). The N and K fertilization yielded highest N plant uptake, which was not different from that of the plots with NPK fertilization, the mekongga variety gave higher yield than var. memberamo.
