Abstract: | This research was carried out in Ambon Island waters until March to April 2009. The present study aimed to determine the relative catch efficiency of three gendang traps. The type of their traps consist of tradisional, A and B type. The tradisonal trap is constructed using bamboo with 1.17 m entrance funnel length, A type is constructed using iron and netting with 1.17 m entrance funnel length, and B type is same as A contructed with 1.07 entrance funnel length. The total catch during 9 hauls are 1,191 individuals, 41 species of fishes, one mollusk, and crustacean were recorded. The total biomass was 281.335 kg, 16 species of fishes are commercial important and others are by-catch. A one-way ANOVA show that individual and weight of catch was significant affected by the types of trap. Least Significance Different test indicated that tradisional trap were significantly lower than trap A and B. |
