Coconut stem could be used as building material and for water treatment. Cultivation of coconut plant is affected by many factors such as plant pest and diseases. The major pests of coconut plant are Sexava sp and Oryctes rhinoceros. Research was conducted in Elpaputih Bay Sub district, Central Maluku District, and the objective was to determine the damage intensity of coconut plant caused by Sexava sp and O. rhinoceros. Survey method was used, 3 sample villages and 10 farmers per village were determined by purposive sampling. Plant samples were randomly chosen by taking 10 plants per farmers' field. Results showed that plant damage intensity caused by Sexava sp and O. rhinoceros in Elpaputih Bay Subdistrict were 4.24 and 6.23, respectively. The highest plant damage intensity caused by Sexava sp was 5.66% in Waraka village while the lowest one was 3.17% in Sahulau village. The highest plant damage intensity caused by O.rhinoceros was 8.37% in Sahulau village while the the lowest one was 4.47% in Waraka village. All of them were in light category. Plant damage intensity was affected by cultivation techniques practiced by farmers in three sample villages, butthe intensity ofdamage in thethree villages was consideredmildcriteria. This is due tocultivation techniquesapplied by farmers in threesamplevillages who have notdoneit well and it was also affectedbyhigh rainfall. Therefore, it contributedto the development of pestSexavasp and Oryctesrhinoceros.
