Abstract: Assessment of organic and inorganic fertilizer use on pepper plants in low plain was conducted in Waihatu village from July to October 2012. The purpose of the assessment was to determine the growth and yield of pepper Tanamo variety which was given organic and inorganic fertilizers. Experiment was arranged in a factorial design Randomized Block Design with two factors, where the first factor was the organic fertilizer (OF) consisted of: 1) OF-1: Natural Plus LiquidFertilizer; 2) OF-2: 10 t/ha of Manure; and 3) OF-3: 2 t/ha of Granules Prima Fertilizer, while the second factor is inorganic fertilizer (IF), namely: 1) IF-1: 150 kg/ha of urea, 200 kg/ha of SP-36, and 100 kg/ha of Potassium Chloride; 2) IF-2: 500 kg/ha of Rainbow NPK + 100 kg/ha of urea; 3) IF-3: Halfdosage of IF-1, and 4) IF-4: Half dosage of IF-2. Each treatment was repeated three times, so there were 36 treatment units. Pepper Tanamo variety was planted with a spacing of 50 cm - 60 cm. The results showed that the liquid organic fertilizers (Natural Plus) provided better pepper plant growth and yield than the solid organic fertilizer (Manure and Granules Prima). Similarly, compound inorganic fertilizers provided better pepper plant growth and yield than a single inorganic fertilizer. Combination of organic and inorganic fertilizers that provide the best yield of pepper are liquid organic fertilizer (OF-1) with compound inorganic fertilizer (IF-2), and between granules prima organic fertilizer (OF-3) with compound inorganic fertilizer (IF-2) by 24.59 t/ha and 24.29 t/ha, respectively. Liquid organic fertilizer of Natural Plus, solid organic fertilizer of Granuler Prima, and compound inorganic fertilizer (Rainbow NPK) are prospective to use for the increase of yield of pepper Tanamo variety.
