Abstract: Local cowpea may have a positive growth response and a high yield if given the right agronomic input. The objectives of this research were to identify: 1) accessions of local cowpea with highest growth and yield under treatment conditions of ‘BioLiz’ liquid organic fertilizer; and 2) the concentration of ‘BioLiz’ fertilizer which would be able to increase growth and yield of cowpea. The research method used a factorial experiment with a Split Plot Design. The main plots were three levels of concentration of the liquid organic fertilizer, consisting of P0 = 0%, P1 = 0.3%, and P2 = 0.6%, and the subplots consisted of 5 accessions of local cowpea from Maluku and 1 national accession (KT6). The treatments were replicated 3 times. The data analyses used the F test and Duncan's multiple range test 5% (DMRT). F test showed no interaction between the main plot and subplot. The variable of stem length gave a significant difference on both the main plot and subplot; meanwhile the number of leaves, the number of pods per plant, the number of seeds per pod and the weight of 100 grains showed highly significant differences in the subplot. The result of DMRT test showed that the fertilizer concentration of P2 gave a significant positive effect on plant height as well as P1, however, P2 was better than P0 (without fertilizer). All local accessions tested showed vegetative performance and some yield variables that were better than the national accession (KT6), except for the number of seeds per pod.
