Abstract: Research on the shift in the composition of weed in the field of sweet corn treated with mulch and planting distance has been done in the Experimental Field, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir. To determine the shift in the composition of weed, analysis was performed using the dominant weed squares method. There were two treatments, namely mulching and plant spacing. Factor I was Imperata cylindrica mulch consisted of: M1 = without mulch; M2 = 10 ton.ha-1. Factor II was planting spacing consisted of J1 = 40 x 25 cm, J2 = 60 x 25 cm, J3 = 80 x 25 cm, J4 = 100 x 25 cm, J5 = 120 x 25 cm. The results showed that the weeds before soil tillage were such as Imperata cylindrica, Cyperus rotundus, Mimosa pudica and Mimosa invisa. After treatment there was a shift of weeds that were dominated by broad-leaved weeds, dominated most by Oxalis corniculata and Galinsoga nudiflora.
